Castle Games Domain

The Castle Games Domain was the first website I played online multi-player games and where I learnt about Internet chatting. I played this for about 1 year and I had the usernames of fraserk and Zigzag21, if anyone remembers me. The idea of Zigzag21 name was from an option in Resarf demo. Yahoo bought Castle Games Domain from BTOpenworld in 2004, which brought the end of the site. Other names for this website where GD, CGD, Castle GamesDomain and The Castle.

On this there was games like Quad Link, Treasure Crypt, Cyber Wars, Battle Thingz and some other games. The game I played the most was Treasure Crypt. During the time playing Treasure Crypt I worked my way up to Grand Master with a score around 2,600.

I used to think this was a game I could program in Turbo Pascal, apart from the graphics. After the CGD closed down, my ex-girlfriend Nina gave me the idea of programming Treasure Crypt. The game is now half finished and I still haven't got around to finishing it.

Screenshots

I'm unable to find any Treasure Crypt's screenshots of the actual game on the internet. If anyone has other screenshots from CGD, especially Crypt, send me an email. This would help me to develop the game. The following pictures are from the Crypt clone.

I do have some pictures from CGD. Check these pictures, it will bring you back some memories. I have reconstructed the first 2 pictures from bits of graphics from the original game. The map, the items table and the 'Tiles Left' text are not in the picture.

  • Use a Zip Utility program to uncompress the zip files. Check the free WinZip Evaluation Version.

  • Click here for the Treasure Crypt instructions.

  • If you need any help with running this game correctly, look at the Treasure Crypt FAQ page.

  • The source code is in the zip file for compiling in Turbo Pascal.

  • The original Treasure Crypt instructions.

When the download box comes up choose save for the 'Treasure Crypt' link. For the 'Self-Extract' link, choose run or open.

The 'Video' link is a video recording of Treasure Crypt. If the game doesn't run for you or its too fast, you can get to see what Crypt was like. The file takes around 10 mins to download on a 1Mb Broadband and 4 hours on a 56k modem. Buy a DVD disc with a higher quality Treasure Crypt video.

I have not finished programming Treasure Crypt. The game uses the keyboard for the controls and not the joystick or mouse. Press + and - to change the speed of the game.
